    The Golden Buddha's Secret (cont.)

"Let's watch the plane take off, " suggested Susan after they loaded the crate onto the museum's private jet. Let's make sure there are no glitches, she added to herself. As the jet disappeared above the clouds, they walked back to the van.

"It's kinda odd, dontcha think, doll?" asked Joe as he leaned against the hood. "The alarm last night. Nothin' was taken. Not even those old paintings next to the crate."

Susan raised an eyebrow. "How is that odd?"

"What if it was a cover? Why would you trip the alarm, risk being caught, and then steal nothing?"

"Who knows?" Susan shrugged. "Not all criminals are as logical as you, Joe. Maybe they got scared and ran."
