    The Golden Buddha's Secret (cont.)

Arabella Shin insisted on riding in the back with her Buddha and Susan. Susan didn't mind. She wanted to keep an eye on her, too. Her partner, Morris Jones, had stashed the diamonds in a hollow compartment  inside the crate's lid. Last night's diversion was to make sure there would be enough security today to ensure the crate's safe arrival at O'Hare. Once the crate arrived in Chicago, it was just a matter of recovering the crate from the Museum of Eastern Art's unloading dock. Even her not-so-bright cousin Marty, a two-bit thug who recently landed a job in the Chicago museum's shipping department, could do that.

Susan smiled at Arabella Shin. The rookie curator was already on her cell phone calling Chicago, making arrangements for the Buddha's safe transport from Midway. After last night's attempted break in, she wouldn't dare let her precious statue out of her sight for a moment. Arabella Shin was a conscientious planner. Susan could count on her. Too bad she couldn't say the same about Morris.

'Two million!' Susan thought as they sped to the airport. Morris had cheated her! Who would have thought? But where was the rest of the diamonds? She had her suspicions. Morris wasn't
